Membership Categories and Eligibility Criteria Institutional Membership Individual Membership Institutional Membership Institutional membership shall be open to Bank Negara Malaysia; licensed banks; merchant banks; finance companies; banking and finance companies and investment banks; development banks; co-operative banks; representative offices of foreign banks; discount houses and money brokers. It may also be opened to other institutions at the discretion of the Council.   Individual Membership The Institute has recently reviewed and revised its individual membership categories with a view to share our knowledge and educational resources with a wider constitutency. With effect from November 1, 2007, the individual membership is categorised as follows: Categories Eligibility Affiliate Individuals who are not employed in approved financial institutions or their finance-related subsidiaries but are interested in developing their knowledge in banking and financial services Associate Individuals in management positions with at least 5 years working experience who are not employed in financial institutions or their finance-related subsidiaries Ordinary Individuals who are employed in approved financial institutions or their finance-related subsidiaries Member Individuals who are employed in approved financial institutions or their finance-related subsidiaries and have one of the following: IBBM's certification/qualification + 3 years work experience in financial services + supervisory/management position Recognised degree/professional qualification + 5 years work experience in financial services + supervisory/ management position Associate Fellow (by invitation of the Council) Individuals who are in senior management positions and continuously render significant services/contribution to IBBM and/or the financial services industry   Fellow (by invitation of the Council) Members of the Board of Directors of banking and financial institutions by virtue of their positions and role in the banking and finance industry Honorary Fellow (by invitation of the Council)   Any persons being non-members who have rendered such services to the Institute as would in the opinion of the Council entitle them to the distinction or because of their knowledge & experience in pursuits connected with the profession of banking and finance   Life (conferred by the Council)   Fellow members who have rendered such services to the Institute as would in the opinion of the Council entitle them to the distinction or because of their knowledge & experience in pursuits connected with the profession of banking and finance Top
